Getting Great Results With The Right Skin Care Moisturizers

Skin, regardless of make and type has to be hydrated. There are also different moisturizers that are created to match the varying skin types. Professional moisturizers and skin care creams come in different forms and compositions, but they all play one role, which is to hydrate the skin and replenish lost moisture or water content.

Well, choosing the right cream or lotion is very important, because not all lotions are suitable for all skin types.

To make skin care cream shopping an easier thing to do, you should first identify your skin type. Identifying skin type makes you match and choose the right moisturizer lotion. There are five common skin types, and these are dry, oily, combination, normal and sensitive skin.

Oily skin
Oily skin is actually very obvious to spot, and is characterized by the skin’s excessive production of sebum. It has an oily sheen and a dull color to it, and has large pimples, pores and blackheads. This skin type is usually caused by hormonal changes in the body, and is usually evident in teenagers. It may also be caused by the diet or the weather. Dry skin is usually dull and flat looking. It is tight, itchy and flaky. It chafes and cracks easily and is caused by plenty of factors – external elements, usually.

Combination skin
Combination skin is the most common skin type, and involves the occurrence of both oily and dry skin on the face. Normal skin is well nourished, smooth, supple and clear. It is neither dry nor oily. Except for the occasional pimple, it does not usually develop any skin care problems such as acne, blackheads, whiteheads, itchiness and flaking. Normal skin is the most ideal of all skin types. Sensitive skin is fine textured and thin, and is very prone to reacting from skin care products, detergents, fabric and the like. This type of skin is also more prone to irritation caused by the sun and wind.

Dry skin
Now that we have the five skin types, it is very important to match the moisturizers with them. Dry skin needs more nourishment and hydration than other skin types. Thus, it will need a thick moisturizer cream or a moisturizing balm. These types of products are thicker in consistency and provide the skin with more hydration that moisturizer lotions or gels.

Oily skin, however, will need the exact opposite of what dry skin needs. The lightest skin care creams, which are usually oil free or water based should be used. Or, there are water based moisturizer gels that provide skin hydration without having clogging effects on the pores.

Normal skin
People with combination skin can rely on the combination of products for both dry and normal skin. People with normal skin, on the other hand, can use any type of facial creams without the worry of over or under – hydration.

Sensitive skin
People with sensitive skin, however, should be very careful with the products that they use. They should use products that are fragrance free and hypoallergenic. Organic and natural skin care products usually fit the description nicely – as they contain natural ingredients that are non irritating, but provide the right hydration to the skin.

Moisturizing the skin is very essential. Thus, make sure that you don’t forget to use moisturizing creams on the skin. Just be sure that they match the skin in order to get the right results.
